Tailwynde Reg'd
1964 -1996
Adele Pfenninger and Al Batchelor at the 2005 National Specialty. I have admired
Adele for over 30 years. Adele was always there to share her knowledge very
freely. Her honesty and sense of humor is so very hard to find in today's dog
world. Adele's work should not be forgotten.
J. Paul was sired by Ch. Tailwynde's Rinky d'Ink, the only brindle
champion to have ever won the American Bullmastiff National
Specialty show to this day. J. Paul was at the top of the standard
yet short backed and with proper angulation. Because he was the
product of and inbreeding, he was able to pass along his virtues
down all of the rest of my generations. J. Paul's COI was 38.7%
J Paul was an ROM sire.
Sugar Ray was sired by Ch. Tailwynde's Razzmatazz,
and his dam was a litter sister of J. Paul's, Tailwynde's
Penny Tweedy. He was closely bred as well and passed
on his remarkable virtues to his get. Sugar Ray was also
inbred, COI 44.5%. Sugar Ray was an ROM sire.
Darryl was the dog I could have specialed. He had a great ring
presence but I wanted to keep this piece of art home to enjoy
myself. He had a COI of 48.7%. I didn't use him as frequently as
I did J. Paul and Sugar Ray although he produced wonderful
puppies.
I considered Fogarty (911) to be the best overall male I have bred.
His COI was 47%. I found it difficult to fault this dog. To me at least,
he was perfection.
Gloria is a Sugar Ray daughter who had great type
and balance. She is a testament to the fact that you
can breed good brindles. Her COI was 25.1%.
Marilyn was a daughter of 911's litter brother and
her COI was 42.7%. I required all of my bitches to
have strong type just as I did with my sires. A
bitch is half of the equation that results in a litter.
Puddy Tat was the product of the only mother-son breeding I
did. I wish I had done more of that! Her COI was 59.5%. As
you can see by the percentages of inbreeding coefficients,
and because I had a closed bloodline, it was possible to get
uniformity of all traits.
Buns (Tonya Ton o' buns) was an own J. Paul daughter with a
COI of 31.2%. Her COI was brought down because of her dam,
Ch. Tailwynde's Trish The Dish, because her sire was a dog
with only a 9% COI. Buns was a powerful bitch with the heavy
bone and type I expected in all of my breeding stock; the
bitches had to have the same virtues as my sires.
